“Just Google it”. The phrase is a universal shorthand for “search for it online”. The fact it is so ubiquitous underlines Google’s dominant position at the top of the search engine pile.

That success was built on continuous improvements to its PageRank algorithm, its massive web index, its ease of usability, and ecosystem of other services – giving Google a search market share of over 90%.

So you might be forgiven for thinking that Google could safely laugh off the idea of losing market share to an indirect competitor like TikTok, but recent changes in the social video giant’s approach to search advertising have made this surprisingly likely.

Last night, we hosted our fifth annual journalist drinks in the heart of Mayfair. A fantastic social evening bringing the Positive team with top -tier journalists from esteemed media outlets like The Telegraph, Daily Mail, Computer Weekly and Metro. 🙌

This year, a new group of editorial friends joined us, ranging from seasoned professionals to emerging voices, covering topics from politics and general news to deep science and cybersecurity. We were honoured by their presence, entertained by their ‘war stories’ and informed by their expert views on the state of news in the UK

These events are precious to the Positive team. It allows us to strengthen our media relationships and understand on a deeper level what they need from PRs today. We are also able to express our gratitude for the amazing continuous support they give our business and it was heartening to hear them appreciate our personal touch as we continue to build the most credible PR partner in EMEA.

We are beyond proud to be part of this vibrant community and look forward to many more engaging conversations ahead!

Cheers to collaboration and connection! 🥂✨

The average citizen of the 21st century has become accustomed to a life where the constant stream of information comes at a pace our brains simply cannot keep up with.
From endless ‘doom-scrolling’ on social media feeds to the constant barrage of news alerts, the modern world is drowning in data.

This “info-mania” is a defining characteristic of the new generation of digital natives, who has grown accustomed to having everything – every fact, falsity, and unfiltered opinion – at their fingertips.

🚨 Lesson 4: Evaluate your dependency on single vendors.

Relying too heavily on one vendor, as seen during the CrowdStrike outage, can expose your business to significant risk.

Diversify your cybersecurity solutions to ensure resilience in the face of unexpected disruptions. 🔒

The holiday season is a time for joy, but it's also a prime opportunity for cybercriminals! 🎄💻

Did you know that cyber attacks surge by 30% during festive periods. With more people shopping online and distracted by holiday cheer, hackers are ready to exploit vulnerabilities. 🔒

Phishing attacks are deceptive cyber threats that prey on human psychology to steal sensitive information. ⚠️

These attacks typically masquerade as trustworthy entities to trick individuals into revealing personal data, login credentials, or financial details. By understanding the nature of these attacks and implementing robust security measures, we can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to phishing scams. 🔒

These attacks can take various forms🔍:

Email Phishing: The most common type, where attackers send emails impersonating legitimate organisations.

Spear Phishing: A more targeted approach, tailoring the attack to specific individuals or organisations.

Whaling: Attacks aimed at high-profile targets like C-level executives.

Smishing: Phishing attempts via SMS or text messages.

Vishing: Voice phishing, typically conducted over phone calls.

Away day

Learning on the job is essential, but learning from others is invaluable

Our training programme includes a buddy system, personal development plans, various training and coaching sessions, as well as external courses such as from PRCA.

For example, every Friday we hold Plus Points, where a member of the team presents something new they have learned and want to share with the team. This could be tips and tricks on securing opps in particular publications or TV shows, how to use a new tech product to increase productivity, lessons learned on a client campaign, how to write research releases – and more.

Giving everyone a voice

Whether new to the world of PR and marketing, or with decades of experience, good ideas come from anywhere and anyone. That’s why we hold regular team away days to discuss business ambitions, reflect on PR and marketing challenges, and create new and compelling ideas for clients through ideation workshops.
